Old hotel in prime location, spoilt by rude staff

My stay in this hotel was marred by the staff attitude. our child was admitted to the hospital out side and so my wife and I checked in. the staff were rude to both of us. treated and spoke to my wife like i had just picked her up in some sleezy bar. they then failed to get us a non smoking room. (the hotel was not busy!) the room stank of smoke. at check out the same disappointing attitudes were present. some of the staff were lovely and very helpful. the 3 behind the check in desk need retraining! nice enough hotel. comfy beds. let down by staff.
