I have used the Mandarin before and I love this chain. This time I booked a room for a very good friend in desperate need of privacy and relax. When I went directly to the hotel one day before his arrival, I found that the main building was under renovation, so most of the restaurants and the swimming pool were not available. There is no mention of that on the hotel's website, nor I was told during a couple of telephone calls I had to make some special arrangement. I was actually tempted to cancel.
Then I asked for a limousine service to the airport, and I was told they would contact me in the morning of the following day to confirm. As nobody called, at around 2pm I called them and they answered quite rudely that the service had already been booked - kind of, why are you bothering us with your call?
For the rest, the restaurant service was good and my friend was impressed with the morning breakfast. But I found the total lack of information about the renovation very unprofessional.
