Mixed feelings, great location but poor service
This place has so much potential but is really let down by poor service and an overpriced restaurant with sub-standard food. I came here on my honeymoon with mixed feelings based on some of the reviews I had read but thought it still sounded good. I contacted the hotel prior to my arrival to organise airport pickup, champagne, flowers and a massage on arrival. We were picked up but nothing else had been done and even when I asked for this to be sorted out it still wasn't. Part of the problem was that virtually none of the staff understood english. Nothing was explained to us when we arrived, ie dining times, activities, checkout etc. When we tried to get help with activities the assistance was given reluctantly, with the exception of one of the receptionists who was fantastic. We dined at the hotel restaurant a couple of times, mainly because there is not much else nearby, and the food was pretty poor and overpriced. The menu is very limited and the buffet special seemed more like a way to get rid of old food as the seafood was definitely not fresh. Having said all this we stayed in a pool villa which was nice, without being luxurious, and generally pretty clean. The pool and beach were fantastic and exactly what we needed after all the stresses of wedding planning. I think if they could lift the level of service and improve the restaurant then this would be a fantastic hotel.
