Amazing honeymoon hotel, beautiful beach views!

We spent an amazing 5 days at Tongsai Bay hotel. The staff were excellent, very friendly and attentive. We were upgraded to a beach view cottage with privacy, that wasn't too far up the hill - perfect location. We sunbathed on the wonderful balcony area every day and barely needed to leave our cottage at all during our stay - only when we ventured out for food! The breakfasts are superb - anything you could possibly want - there's a fresh fruit station where a lady will make up smoothies for you, made to order omelettes etc, full English breakfasts, pancakes and waffles made to order, as well as Asian cuisines. Lots of freshly baked pastries also. We tried the thai restaurant one evening which was lovely, and on one of the nights they did a beach bbq - free drinks for an hour, and then a buffet bbq afterwards that was fantastic - lots of choices of foods. There is a small village nearby (Choeng Mon) which we were able to walk to - its about a 20 min walk each way. We also got a cab down one evening for 150 baht each way. It has several restaurants and a few grocery and beach type shops, and on a Wednesday night it has a street market which was quite nice to see - we picked up a few bits to take home. We stayed in the 3rd week of January...it was quite windy on several days, and there was the very occasional rain shower in the day. We could still sunbathe further back on our balcony though when raining, it was still warm. I'd hugely recommend Tongsai Bay to anyone who wants relaxation, peace & quiet, and appreciates good service. It's not an ultra modern hotel like a lot of 5 star hotels, but that really isn't a negative in this location - the hotel is designed to perfectly suit the setting. If you are after fancy toiletries and remote control blinds, then it's probably not for you (we had that when we stopped in Singapore on the way), but if you can appreciate the natural beauty of a more boutique hotel, then go for Tongsai Bay, you won't regret it.
