Costly spot up the hill with nice views
Stayed for two nights only, here is our summary:
Pros: close to Long Beach which is fantastic for swimming, snorkeling, restaurants, etc; nice breakfast with good coffee; you can rent towels and snorkel equipment for free; good bar serving dinner and drinks; resort is spacious with a park-like vibe; the rooms are clean and quiet; staff is friendly and polite
Cons: transport via longtail boat to/from the resort was difficult - one day we waited for about 2h at Tonsai pier to get a boat; communication with resort was slow - we were asked to provide a time for pickup the day before arriving at Tonsai pier, but never got a confirmation, once we arrived no HIP staff could be found and we only reached the resort after many calls; you should be physically fit to climb up the stairs (your luggage is taken care of by the staff though); description of HIP stated there was a pool, but there is none.
Overall: nice place with great views, but given the value for money, we’d chose another spot at Long Beach next time.
