Desperate times call for desperate measures
So, where to begin. Firstly, I’d like to question the 8.9 rating this hostel displays in the lobby.
The internet is a beautiful thing, which offers us many choices in today’s world. After reading the scoring of this location, and seeing the cheap price we chose to stay. God, what a mistake!
Where to begin?
The rooms were small and boxy, after paying for a room with A/C we were then told the unit was broken - and instead we were given a fan. Staff tried to sell us rip off ferry tickets, and continued to accuse us of lying when told that we had been offered the same ferry for 300 less. DONT TAKE TICKETS HERE, instead find a street stall (this was much cheaper). The walls of the room were covered in dirt stains that are incredibly easy to wipe off, as well as having a small empire of god knows what bug swarming in the corner of the room. It was that hot without A/C that we saw other visitors with their fan lodged in the door blowing the cool air in. This wouldn’t be a problem, however the ‘security guard’ working the night shift obviously had better things to do with his time and wasn’t to be seen at all on the second night. Not at all safe since all that separates the rooms and the street is an unlocked gate.
Breakfast looked alright, but I didn’t chancing it as this also looked alright before we arrived.
