Brand New Little Hotel - prob better in a few months
Hotel was opened over a week when we arrived and it was obvious they were not at all ready.
There were constructions going on throughout the day at the back of the hotel as they were building what looked like staff quarters. Landscapings were still being done with bags of soil, cement, hoses and cables running all over the resort. It was a bit difficult to nap in the afternoons with noise from drilling and sawing going on.
There was some drainage issue in the room shower as the water quickly flooded the shower room after a few minutes of running water.Hot/Cold water also sporadic so had to adjust and wait as the water temperature swung from too hot to too cold.
Rooms, although a tad small for a resort were very well decorated and we loved the colour scheme of white and teal - very refreshing, with plenty of natural materials being used - bamboo for settee in room, paper for wall mirror frame, wood accents on ceilings and panels flanking the balcony, cute little rattan swing in the balcony, bed, pillows and linen were very comfortable.
Food in The Hornbill was satisfactory, however half the menu was not available as I imagined it to be hard to procure supplies.
Breakfast buffet was adequate for a 55-room hotel. Coffees are very good.
Pool with jacuzzi with a view of the James Bond Island over the Andaman sea was a great spot to spend the afternoons, but that was about all the activity that was available during my stay. The staff was very kind to loan us the side car to drive around the island a couple of times.
