I had previously been staying in a quieter area of Chaweng beach and decided to stay at the Evergreen as I wanted to check out the nightlife. The hotel was very centrally located with plenty of shopping, massage, restaurants etc. nearby. I enjoyed the hustle and bustle after a very quiet few days and the Wednesday night beach party at the Ark Bar didn't disappoint.
The hotel itself was decent enough with a reasonable sized room with a balcony and roomy shower room. I found the bed a bit lumpy but the linen was clean and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was served near reception. It was plentiful - toast, bacon, eggs, fruit etc. The pool is tiny and has no view of anything except the back of the hotel. I wouldn't choose to use it especially as the beach is so close.
Overall I didn't mind the Evergreen but you are simply paying for location. For the same money but far more luxurious and with great facilities including beautiful pool and gym (and free sunbeds on the beach at a sister hotel 5 mins away) I went back to stay at Le Murraya and paid the 40 baht fare to get to and from my hotel when I wanted to go out!
