Last Minute CNY Break
We booked a last minute trip to Krabi just before the CNY holiday. When we came across The Elements Krabi Resort on Agoda we read the reviews and decided to go for it despite it not being centrally located. The rate was decent (around 160SGD/night) and looked infinitely better than a majority of the other places we considered. My first contact with the hotel was to arrange an airport transfer via email and they responded in under 10 mins confirming the booking - the first of many experiences of excellent service. When we arrived in Krabi from Singapore we met our driver who took us to the hotel - it was a 25-30min ride (I think! I was too busy looking at the sights on the way!) and for 1000Baht I thought it was pretty reasonable. Check in was smooth and was accompanied with a welcome drink and cold scented towel - as a frequent business traveller the Elements really put a few big name hotels to shame! Despite not being able to provide a room upgrade we got a lovely room with a view of both the pool and sea (room 312). The room was a great size, immaculately kept and very comfortable with everything you could need for your stay (including umbrellas, gowns, slipper etc). The pool area is great although there could be more loungers available for guests - would have been perfect if the swim-up bar was operational as well! Other facilities such as the gym, billiard room and karaoke lounge were well equipped and well maintained. We didn't try the spa but it looked ok although I think a trip to the local spas may save you some money if you are watching your $$$. All in all this is a super hotel...except for one area....the restaurant. Quality wise I couldn't fault the food (apart from one Satay dish that was average) or price (it's not expensive!) but the table service needs considerable work. It took an eternity to get served and for those with families around us I could see the children getting rather restless. We would definitely return in a heartbeat.
