I have been to Thailand perhaps more than 70 times. And I have never seen as happy and helpful a staff as at U Duay Gan — especially the front desk.
I come from a city where a huge IT company feeds its 42000 employees on site free but high quality food, 24 hours a day. The idea of course is to make the employees feel “at home”. I think the owner of the U Duay Gan is doing something similar — by offering free room to its employees: this makes them feel a sense of pride and take ownership. The hotel can hire from small towns nearby; the employees can save a larger part of their income. Most importantly, the hotel guests feel well treated. It is a win-win-win situation for all concerned.
