Cute bungalows, but not my ideal location
A friend had recommended this hotel for us, but overall we were not impressed. The main reason wasn't as much of the hotel as it was of the hotels location. It was on Long Beach, which is where everyone said was the place to stay, but I have no idea why! There is nothing to do except sit on the beach, which there were not even chairs for that. There is no shopping and only about 3-4 restaurants. We thought it was very boring. The hotel itself was clean and very cute. However, you have to go next door to the Paradise Pearl Bungalows for breakfast, which I found their staff extremely rude. Breakfast is included and it was not bad, but there are so many flies and mosquitoes because you are right on the water. (We also had to a ton of mosquito bites after that night - they need mosquito nets.) Overall, I think the price was too high. We stayed the night prior at the PP Casita and liked it much more and it was half the cost. The resort itself is nice, but we were glad we only had to stay there one night. I enjoyed more of wandering the streets of the main areas and checking out all of the restaurants. So if you are looking for almost total seclusion and to really be away from it all...then this is it. However, if you want to be more of a part of the action, then don't stay here. In addition, we found it annoying to pay 100baht per person to get to/from Long Beach. The last boat goes around 10pm; therefore, you can't stay out late in the main areas.
