Good hotel but not central location

Just stayed one night in transit to Laos, nice hotel, owner speaks very well english BUT a little bit far from bus station or river…if you don't worry about walking is ok otherwise you need to ride a tuk tuk. Hot water didn't work at all depsite the heater….and a holy bible book was near the bed….don't know what to think about it as it's something that I would not expect to find this kind of book by booking a hotel room !!!
