I was so disappointed in our stay at Rimchan. First off, they put us in a connecting cottage (that was not made clear) and even though there are several little cottages empty, they put someone next to us who had a hangover the next morning (not relaxing at all). I live in Chiang Rai and my husband and I simply wanted a little get away with air con and a swimming pool. Without any previous notice, they planned a staff party the day we were there surrounding the pool, and said we could not swim. After sharing (in Thai and as politely as could be) that I was very disappointed because the whole reason we came to stay there was to have a day at the pool and relax, I asked for some kind of compensation and the lady responded very sharply with me and said I already got a discount with Agoda. There was no consideration for our money that was wasted or our disappointment. She then said we could swim at 5 pm because it would be over at 5 pm. At 6 pm it was still going strong and most of the people were drunk and singing Karaoke on the mic. Fortunately they ended by about 8 pm, but there went our relaxing weekend by the pool! Maybe it wouldn't have been so bad if there were other things to do and cool places to go, but there isn't, without traveling and/or spending money. It also should be noted there are tons of Karaoke clubs and bars on that strip-my guess is some sketchy stuff going on there.
