I have stayed at this property three different times. The location is very good and for a first visit to Chiang Mai the setting and decor are very charming. I would recommend for a first visit to Chiang Mai as the city can be disappointing in its' displays of tourist trash, bar girls, and seediness . That said, this is not the most comfortable of hotels and the staff is fairly indifferent to going the extra mile. The rooms are small, the bathrooms tend to be dark (no tubs) with rattan doors that do not always close with a seamless fit. My last visit included a higher grade (larger) room which was on the perimeter of the property and had a fair amount of street and neighborhood noise. The beds are single mattress style, so they are not ultra comfortable. The front desk is situated at the entrance to the property and the front desk staff mind the entrance like wardens. This is a busy property, very popular with the Brits, and a gracious welcome is not always communicated.
