Atmospheric setting and outstanding service

Unbeatable location for the regular Sunday evening street market (literally on the doorstep of the hotel) which starts from about 4pm. This however also means that it is best to avoid checking in or out on Sunday afternoons or evenings - but then you don't want to miss the market. The daily buffet spread at the Ruen Tamarind restaurant was always very good (we stayed 3 nights), with a good mix of Western and Thai offerings. I especially remember the jugs of freshly-made fruit juices stashed on beds of ice topped with little conical "hats" made out of folded banana leaves! We had two lunches there as well, both excellent. A good pool and very quiet and atmospheric grounds, despite it being right in the middle of the Old City. Also has a very good spa (if a bit pricey, compared to what is readily available just outside).

Lovely hotel, excellent location and quiet
