We had a good time at the Krabi Sands. We had been in Ao Nang for 4 nights previous, so the quiet location was a refreshing change. However, the road in front of the property was quite busy with heavy trucks to and from the gypsum quarry down the road, day and night. Lots of restaurant options up the road from the resort. We actually only ate breakfast in the resort's restaurant (which could have used more variety day to day.)
The pool has deep areas and a beach entry area which was nice for the kids, but the end of the shallow pool abruptly drops into 1.5M depth. There is also a nice sized paddling pool for very young kids. Not much else for activities within the resort, but Klong Muang beach is a short walk across the road, and during high tide is amazing. Long, clean and plenty of sun and shade as needed. Shallow so kids can go in quite a ways, and very calm seas.
Rooms are basic, with either king bed or two super single beds (we needed an additional bed which cost 1000 baht/night (our prev. hotel charged 250/night) . Mattress was firm and comfortable, with clean bedding. Minimal local channels, and a disappointing bathroom, with open shower (no curtain or enclosure) so the whole bathroom was wet after bathing.
Very weak or no wifi in the room, (choose rooms near the pool if possible as the Wifi mast is in the centre of the property beside the pool).
Overall good value for money, but 3 star at most.
