Absolutely amazing hostel

Glur is easily the best hostel I've stayed at in Asia-so good that I extended my stay twice! The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are nice and large, and each bed in the dorms has a big space at the end for bags and a closet. Privacy curtains are a definite plus! The bathrooms had large shower rooms, were very clean, very modern, and we're kept well stocked with shampoo and body wash. The water was always hot!
I loved that they kept bananas out during the day for you to snack on, and a free (light) breakfast was provided each morning. They have a full size fridge that you can keep food in, hammocks to lounge on, a ping pong table, a pool, a large flat screen tv with plenty of DVD options, a computer, and loads of books and magazines. The common area is excellent! Wifi was also strong and fast throughout the property.
Lastly, the staff was fabulous. They were always friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I felt very comfortable going to them with any and all questions and concerns. They can book all kinds of tours and onwards transportation for you, and at a significantly lower price than the agencies along the main street in Ao Nang.
The one downside is that it IS a bit of a walk from the beach/pier, however that wasn't a big deal for me. I found the best prices (and quality) of food in the smaller stalls and shops closer to the hostel, rather than the overpriced restaurants close to the beach.
All in all, I would HIGHLY recommend Glur Hostel. Don't even give it a second thought. No, it's not the cheapest accommodation in the area, but it is WELL WORTH the price!! As a long-term traveller on an extreme budget, I'm glad I sprung for a nicer place with Glur for a few nights.
