This is a wonderful resort - pricey, but you expect that at a Marriott. You get what you pay for and if you want amazingly appointed family/two-bedroom apartments, then this is an excellent place to come to. The apartments are huge and equipped with everything you need including three TVs. The pool is fantastic and the staff are very welcoming. Just be aware that on arrival, regardless of the fact that our bags had been left in Bangkok and we were tired and it was 12:30pm Sydney time, the Marketing person wanted to talk time-share - these people will also chase you around Turtle Plaza regardless of the number of times you refuse them. As far as location is concerned, the Marriott provides golf-cart courtesy transfers to JW Marriott down the road which actually backs onto the beach - Marriott Mai Khao does not. However, whilst the beach is beautiful, it is quite narrow and can be very rough due to the steep nature of the sandbar. You are also 30kms from Phuket City so touring is costly.
