Quiet Location but Service Need to be Improved
it was an eventful 4 day vacation in phuket, with the tsunami evacuation in the middle of the vacation. we had to wait out the tsunami warning up in a 5th floor room (we stayed in a ground floor pool villa). overall, the stay was pleasant; the rooms were nice and the kids enjoy the private swimming pool. however, overall service needs to be improved at the hotel. room service didn't come until late afternoon (and after persistent nagging by us). it would have been so annoying to come back after an exhausting day out in the sun to an uncleaned room. also, after the tsunami warning, only one restaurant (out of 2) was opened and only buffet was available at a steep price. given that it was already past 7, and mai khao is located far from everything, everyone swarmed to the restaurant. thus, it was a big mess. i understand that it was due to a possible natural disaster, but they could have opened a few more tables, and give a small discount for the buffet. finally, we are supposed to have complimentary breakfast during our stay. on the last day, they said that our complimentary b/f was from april 10 - april 12th while we checked in on april 10 noon and left on april 13. every sensible human being would assume that the b/f was from april 11-13th, upon waking up. we had to spend a good 45 minutes in arguing with them before they let us go and not having to pay the 13th breakfast bill.
