Good family time

We frequently visit Phuket. This is our first time staying in the Mai Khao area. We stayed in a 2 bedroom pool villa. The unit is well maintained, well equipped and clean. The kitchen is fully equipped and also comes with washing machine and dryer. We ordered room service on a few occasions. Food came quite quickly but i guess it does depends on the time the food is ordered.Food quality was generally good. Hotel pricing.
We rarely used the villa's pool as the property's main pool is more enticing with different activities. There was a dedicated water play area for kids. Kids club was great. The staff managed and engaged the kids well. There are different activities daily. The gym is well maintained and spacious with good equipment.There are other good activities such as aquarobic, movie night by the pool, fire dance show, etc. Generally a great family oriented resort. There is also a Turtle Conservation project at the J.W Marriott property which you can take the shuttle there. They are open on weekdays only (11am for turtle feeding)
Location wise, it's quite near the airport but far from everything else. Without a car, it's hard to go anywhere so you are pretty much spending your time around the property. There is a shuttle between the marriott properties. The Mai Khao Beach is quite a long walk but they do provide a buggy shuttle to the beach. The beach is nicer and cleaner than other beaches that i've been in phuket (such as Kata/Surin). When I got there, there was very nice hammocks hanging there and a nice chillout place, but it did not belong to Marriott, instead to Anantara. Perhaps Marriott can create something like that too. Perhaps have more beach activities.
Not many massage options, the affordable ones 400baht can be found by the beach. There are also the luxurious ones on the resort which are rather pricey. So in this aspect, I was quite disappointed as I did not fulfill my daily quotas of massages. There isn't any other massage options.
