I wish I could recommend this place but I can't...

I enjoyed the poolside room and I thought the price was reasonable but there were just too many issues to make it a place I would recommend.
I'm a 51 year old executive who has spend a good part of the past two years backpacking through SE Asia. I've stayed in every kind of place and at every price range imaginable from couch surfing to hostels to expensive resorts.
This place owns the motorcycle rentals and the restaurant across the street which provides the "included breakfast".
Complaints :
I checked in and went to pay wirh a CC and they were going to charge 5% fees so I booked through agoda (same price).
My buddy was staying with a local friend and so he put his bags in my room for safe keeping. We were relaxing and having a drink by the pool and then went to head to the beach. As we were crossing the street some woman was at the restaurant yelling something to get my attention (thinking she wanted to sell me some boat tour I kept walking). She chased me down and told me my friend could not be at the hotel or use the pool. I explained to her that he was not staying with me, we were only relaxing by the pool (not swimming).
Later I told management that I was not a teenager and that I don't respond to people yelling "hey!" at me from across the street in the restaurant. She could have addressed me more professionally.
The same women upon checkout charged me 300 baut ($10) for a hand towel saying it was soiled and could not be washed. I had friends waiting so I just paid and left.
Weird things like all diet coke in the refrigerator and I asked to change them for regular but that wasn't possible (but I could order room service).
Breakfast is a buffet across the street and food runs out by 10, it's not served until 10.
There are better places near the beach.
