Check the schedule first

Villa Lantara is a great place to spend a few days in Chiang Mai. The rooms were new and very clean and comfortable and the staff was outstanding. It's not in the middle of town so the crowds are smaller and the neighborhood has more of a local flavor. There's a great morning-market a block away and some good local restaurants. We did have a problem with one thing during our stay and that was a festival at the Burmese temple right next door. The festivities went on to the wee hours (music, drumming, and chanting) and then cranked back up before dawn. So check the schedule at the temple (our visit was right before Songkran Day). Otherwise it was a great stay.
