Cold comfort
Unfortunately we all felt unwelcome. Although we were polite and undemanding we felt as if the staff would have much preferred we were not there. They studiously ignored us when we passed through reception, after five days in the end I got tired of smiling and saying hello and being greeted with blank stares. While they were not rude they seemed to pretend we did not exist. We did not take it personally as we observed that they treated other guests the same way. Noone on staff spoke english - which is ok I don't expect them to, but they did not even seem to understand the word towel (Had to ask for fresh ones in mime after three days), or try to understand when I asked about printing out a ticket. I booked two rooms,for my family and I and I stayed six nights). They did not even say goodbye when we left, we tried to cath their eye but they kept their heads down. Even if they are all painfully shy it is no excuse for the coldest strangest atmotphere I have ever encountered in S.E. Asia. (I am in my 50s and a very "seasoned" traveller )
