Small, but perfectly formed.
We absolutely loved everything about the Akara. The generous welcome in the beautiful lobby laid out with delicious light bites and dainty cakes, drinks (incl. alcohol) set the tone for our stay. The hotel is very stylishly decorated, not the corporate beigeness of the big chains, but a more designer, tropical feel with nice wallpaper, real marble floors, real wood parquet flooring etc... Our room was beautiful, incredibly comfortable bed (rare to find in Asia), lovely linens, all-marble bathroom, round bathtub with all the accessories you would wish for.
The breakfast is well worth it, and one of the best I have had in Asia from a western point of view. They catered very well for all tastes so a large, nicely displayed buffet of all kinds of items including pastries, fresh fruit and home-made muesli.
Pool area is stunning, small pool but we often had it to ourselves with great views over BKK. The rooftop bar has excellent view & very good cocktails. Restaurant food also top-notch
