Old, dated hotel - functional but not very good.

Old, dated hotel. Door/lock was temperamental, bathroom was old/dirty - shower curtain didn't even reach the top of the bath! The "American Breakfast" was very basic, and seemed like no effort was put in at all to make it look appetising or interesting. The staff stocked it when they could be bothered. The choices/variety were very limited - even the Thai dishes didn't look very appetising. I'd stay here again simply because it's a convenient location for the ruins - but it's not near the town centre if you don't have your own transport. There are other options in town, or right close to the ruins - this hotel is big, and good for a conference if the organisers want something cheap for their large group. But for any other purpose, I'd say it's past its prime and needs to improvement. The staff weren't unfriendly, but never once did I feel they made an effort to be friendly or provide other than very average service.
