Shockingly Great
This is a fabulous hotel built and operated by people who understand international standards of quality. Pushing all superlatives aside, here's what makes this hotel special:
-- Service: With only 18 rooms in the hotel, the staff is more than ready to anticipate and fill any guest need. Want to hire a taxi for sightseeing? The receptionist will go outside to the taxi stand to set it up at a reasonable price. Wiping your brow at an outside café table in the late afternoon sun? The staff inside observes, brings you a cold, scented towel and a portable Tefal air cooler for the table.
-- Rooms: Elegantly designed and decorated. All materials are first rate and everything works and makes sense. Amazingly, although you're only about 50 meters from Beach Road, you don't hear a single bus because the windows and balcony door use thick, double glass.
-- Food: The menu is varied but limited and the food doesn't come out quickly, which underscores that every dish is freshly prepared and beautifully presented. This is the only restaurant in Thailand that I've been to where both the international and Thai dishes (according to my Thai wife) are superb.
