nice isolated place on great beach only 30-40 min
i traveled solo looking for a relaxing get-away from busy work schedule. this was the perfect place. and situated right in between two higher end hotels (but not that you can see / feel their presence), the value is great for its location.
if you want the backpack and party scene, stay in tongsai. this beach is about 30-40 min boat ride north. but well worth the distance if you are looking for seclusion.
the restaurant food really isn't good. was pretty disappointed. think they cater too much to tourist and thai food becomes more like bad chinese food. small tip: walk south on the beach about 2-5 minutes from hotel to a place called sea gypsy village. sounds sketchy...its fantastic. a scottish man and his thai wife run the jasmine bar / restaurant. great food, great people, great visitors. i would also recommend renting boat tours and other excursions from this area as the hotels mark up 3-6x the actual cost some times (wish i knew that before!).
