Right near Ao Nang Beach.
Our first impression was that Tipa could really use some renovation; outdated decor, tired old framed photos everywhere bleached a faded blue from years in the sun, ratty old lounge chair and sad flowered curtains in the room. Got sort of an early 90s feel to it. BUT...the staff is fantastic, seeing to your every need with smiles. Breakfast is varied, always a big spread that changes daily (nice egg station too). Fried potatoes, chicken, and multi grain bread. Even chocolate cake once! Housekeeping was on the spot every day, and rooms felt clean & fresh with high thread count sheets & duvets. Great cable tv channels with english-speaking movies (we watched Zootopia, Pirates of the C., Mission Impossible, White House Down and Enchanted-all without the typical Thai dubbing). Super easy walk to the beach. All the restaurants you could need. Hotel will arrange tours, taxis, etc. Biggest complaints: tricky wifi, tiny gym and a pool that closes at 7pm. Seriously 7pm? But the beach never closes so not a huge deal. A big thank you to Mim and Tam, who were especially helpful to us. We had a great stay!
