Amazing property in an amazing location
Lots to love about Villa Royale, with a charming and well maintained property which you cannot mistake for a ‘cookie cutter’ large chain resort. The property is perched on rocks overlooking Kata Noi beach which is accessible via a private path down to the north end of the beach. Kata ya is a longer and more crowded beach and is accessible by walking down a fairly steep slope for 5-10 minutes. There are restaurants and shops at both beaches and there is a fairly affordable outdoor cafe style eatery right next to the VR gallery with Thai and western dishes. The only suggestion I have for improvement is perhaps training for the maintenance staff in attention to detail, which is slightly lacking compared to an international five star resort, but you won’t be able to fault the wonderful attitude and eagerness to please of everyone from front desk to housekeeping. We stayed at the Ocean Wing which is an entirely separate complex from the main hotel. It is accessible though paths across a small road and past the spa from the main resort. But it had the advantage of seclusion and a beautiful pool overlooking the sea through lush greenery, which we had to ourselves for our 4 day stay
