Phuket-Asia's Coney Island!
Phuket in general, in the main, has become a frenetic, over-exploited destination heavily dominated by groups of Chinese and Russian travelers. Informational signs and advertisements are presented primarily in Thai, Russian, Chinese and some English.
The facilities at Chanalai were satisfactory; the staff dedicated both in terms of service and keeping the rooms and facilities very clean.
There are numerous beaches on Phuket Island and Kata Beach, the location of Chanalai Gardens Hotel was, in our estimation the best we visited and experienced. However, the beach is extremely over-crowded and exploited by numerous touts and vendors who prowl the length of the beach.
I would not recommend Phuket to anyone who is looking for a relaxing, tropical location with pristine beaches and amenities. There is scant evidence of responsible environmental stewardship and maintenance of natural amenities. I
n short, Phuket has little to offer in terms of relaxation and natural features.
