Stunning location with just a few issues

The location and views from this Resort are simply superb. If stunningly beautiful, un-crowded beaches are your aim then look no further than Koh Kradan.

Reef Resort is a relatively new development (albeit a little soulless) and as such i am reluctant to be overly critical as it is very apparent that they are doing all that they can to get the resort to the high standard they clearly crave.

The owner is very approachable and free use of snorkelling and kayaks is a real positive. The bar is clean and well designed and popular with patrons of other hotels, which is always a good sign.

My main criticism is the combination of outside bathroom and no Air-Con in the majority of rooms. The outside bathroom attracts mosquitos and other bugs and the construction of the rooms with a sealed unventilated roof and concrete/brick walls without air-con seems strange to me. The result is that the room heats up during the hot sunny days and retains incredible heat during the night. The owners are clearly aware of this as a problem and are currently upgrading as many rooms as they can to have air-con and I would recommend anyone that is booking to do their utmost to secure and air-con room.

They currently have no restaurant but I understand that they plan to have a kitchen open to serve food in the near future which will improve the resort markedly. The inclusive Breakfast is perfectly acceptable but I am sure it would be much better and easier for the staff once they physically have an operational kitchen.

They also need to learn how to properly maintain the swimming pool as I am sure the green colour and green algi growing on the tiling grouting is not the norm, but I suspect this will all be sorted out and improved as the development matures.

Ultimately we did enjoy our stay at Reef Resort and as long as you get an air-con room would have no hesitation in recommending to others.
