great hotel, interesting location

I thoroughly enjoyed my 7 nights at Viangbua. the staff really are good, always charming and good at their respective jobs. The room was spacious, cleaned every day. The bathroom was of generous proportions to suit large westerners, so, unlike some Thai places, there was room to actually get wet, with lots of hot water and good pressure. The coffee shop and restaurant serves a good mix of Thai, Western and Japanese food at very reasonable prices, however it closes at 3pm, so one must get out and about for the evening meal. The location suits me, as I like a local atmosphere, and one has it in spades at Viangbua.The more touristy areas are a long hot walk, or a short tuktuk ride away to the old city.
