Great staff, location, value

I stayed 4 nights. I've lived in Thailand 3 years and been to many islands and beaches. Alama was one of the best value for money places I've stayed. It's new, and everything is clean and well-maintained. The pool is fantastic with lots of comfy sunbeds. The staff were all very friendly (even more than the traditional Thai) and fun to talk with.
The only potential downside is the aircon isn't really strong enough to cool the entire room. The rooms are just simple wood and concrete and glass (but very stylish, not basic), but during the day especially it's impossible to have a "cool" room. At night it's ok for sleeping, but if you like a really cold room then this isn't your place. The outdoor living space with hammock, bean chair etc are great for morning or afternoon lounging around, and nicely shaded with a fan.
Overall I was extremely happy with my stay there. If I return to Koh Lanta, I almost certainly would book Alama again.
