Thank u, next.
When I checked in, my reservation hadn’t even been processed. A staff member eventually led me up to my room after about 30mins, which was still being cleaned as I went in...
I immediately noticed that the room was about 84 degrees and tried to turn on the AC... wouldn’t turn on. Decided to take a cold shower. The bathroom smelled of urine.
After talking to the front desk, I was told that the power was out (something they could have told me as I was checking in) and that it should be on later that night. Trying to busy myself, I asked if there was laundry near the hotel. That’s where things get interesting...
Someone at the front desk told me that I could have my laundry done by the hotel for 70BAHT per bag—the bags in the room’s wardrobe were small tote bags, so I obliged. After all, I only had some tank tops and underwear to send off... didn’t even fill up the bag!
Said laundry was picked up, power eventually came on, the urine smell faded, and I thought that maybe it would be smoother sailing with these folks now. I was wrong.
At check out, I was given a bill for over 1800BAHT for my laundry. When I mentioned that I had been told it was 70BAHT, the woman smiled and said “Oh! She made mistake! This what you owe.”
I refused to pay over $60USD to have several tank tops + some underwear washed, and insisted on speaking with a manager.
I was told the manager would be right down. Spoiler alert: He or she never came. And after waiting for 20mins, the front desk made me a second offer of roughly $45USD for washing tank tops and undies... I declined and said I would wait for the manager... another 15 mins went by, The front desk made me another offer: $15USD. I took it because I was sick of waiting.
I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. There are better resorts in the Patong area for around the same price. And some even have working WiFi!
*yeah, the WiFi in my room, which was in the back of the resort was virtually nonexistent.
