Clean, friendly, personal touches!

We motorbiked it from Chiang Mai to Mae Sariang. When we arrived at Above the Sea we were immediately greeted by the owner with a warm smile and handshake (he lived in Australia so he speaks English well). We were immediately charmed by all the personal touches in our rooms. Hand painted signs with positive messages, creative fixtures and wall hangings, and artful touches everywhere. Shower was nice and hot with plenty of water pressure, sheets were good quality cotton, aircon was robust and working great, and thank you to all the guesthouse owners like Above the Sea's who provide curtains with opaque liners so you can get the room nice and dark if you want...I always appreciate that touch. I would definitely stay here again. A number of dining options only steps away, too.

Great little boutique in out of the way town
Great service staff really wonderful nice breakfast rooms scrupulously clean beds tiny bit on the hard side.

Rooms with US decor
Very comfortable and well decorated, our room's decor made it seem like we were in the US. Good breakfast, western or Chinese style. Nice pool.
