A slice of Thai Paradise

We drove all the way from Penang, stopping at Hat Yai for 1 nite then continued to Koh Lanta. When we reached Koh Lanta, we had some trouble finding the place but the staff kindly came out from the resort to look for our car. We were led to an area further away from the main road that required a little traversing through some red clay road.
Once we reached the little resort, we were delighted by the traditional Thai architecture and gardens. Mimi checked us in and she spoken good English and was very pleasant to deal with. As we walked to our chalet, we marvelled at the lovely landscape - ponds, trees and flowers surrounded us.
After checking out our lovely room, we then wandered towards the beach and found that it was not quite possible to swim there as there were dead corals stretching across. Nevertheless, the sunset was breathtaking and we had a light meal at the poolside which enjoying the lovely sunset. For our meal, we had Som Tum Thod which was deep fried seafood papaya salad and Pad Thai which was a little like our Penang Char Koay Teow. While the food was delicious, it took quite some time to arrive. The staff are extremely friendly and very eager to please, however, we have to be careful on how we order our breakfast as it can be misinterpreted, resulting in eggs that doesn't meet our requirements. Do explain slowly how you want it done and repeat a few times to make sure they really understand.
Koh Lanta is a terrific island with many more beautiful islands nearby. We took the trip to Koh Rok for snorkelling and had the most amazing day with such beautiful beaches. Then coming back to the resort is extremely soothing with its beautiful gardens and comfy stay. Highly recommended!
