Tradition and comfort
I felt welcome in the hotel from the beginning. The decor is very interesting. I thought at first that I was in an authentically ancient Thai house, perhaps of a nobleman, and that the renovations had been done later. I tried to imagine where members of the extended family might reside, and what intrigues there would be in such a wealthy family. Instead, I found out that the house was built only 10 years ago. So much for my imagination!
The pool is a real bonus. The hotel is within walking distance of "Dream Cafe", the only place to eat in town, as far as I am concerned. The hotel offers free shuttle service to the small bus stop where you leave for the old city, and to the main bus stop. The rest of the time, they will take you where you want in town for a nominal fee. The front desk is always willing to help with any requests.
I had two of the best massages ever (!) in this hotel from Mrs. Gaiy (sp.?). The techniques she used were extraordinary, and very therapeutic to my knee and back problems. I would come back to Thailand for this alone!
