Our arrival at the Amara was very disappointing. Our hotel shuttle bus driver got lost so it took us over half a hour longer than the rest of our family (in a second shuttle bus) to arrive at the hotel. On arrival we didn't receive a welcome drink or any welcome literature which the family members in the other shuttle did. We (a family of 4 with 2 children) were then told that our 2 rooms were not adjoining. We had to switch to smoking rooms so that we could have the children next to us in a adjoining room. The room was sprayed to remove as much smell as possible but it still smelt smoky. Despite this disappointing start to our stay we were overall pleased with the hotel. The staff at the Amara are really good, offering useful friendly advice throughout our stay and assisted us with left luggage and transfers back to the airport. The hotel pool/ bar area on the roof is nice but is a very small space for the size of the hotel. People were fighting for spare seats/ beds and it felt very cramped. Breakfast was good, a buffet style with a good choice of foods/ drinks. I would stay here again.
