We paid extra for grand de-luxe sea view, room no. 325, which did have a fantastic view and was spacious. However, it is on the end of the accommodation block, 15 metres from the noisiest part of the main block which housed ventilation units from the kitchens. Standing on the balcony the noise was deafening, not so bad with balcony doors shut as the room air con blocked it out. The room below (225) would have been worse. Hotel was pretty full with Chinese tour groups and mostly Russian guests.
Noise level as the tour groups arrived or left at all hours did affect our sleep.
Breakfast is aimed at the above groups of guests and we ended up buying our own cereal. Fortunately we had a hire car and could travel when we wanted. It is a lovely part of the island but you need transport as the hotel is away from towns or villages. There are extensive grounds and monkeys from the adjoining forest were on the roof and balconies one morning! The pictures of the beach are misleading, it had not been cleaned when we were there and is a 5 minute walk down and 15 minute walk back. The hotel is up a very steep road, a shuttle service to the beach is provided but we did not see many doing that.
The swimming pools were very good and kept clean. Our room was very nice if a little 'jaded' . Shower head needed de-scaling to increase the flow, bathroom grouting poor etc.
We stayed for nine nights and ate at the hotel restaurant half the time. Food was excellent and very good value. Also will remember the beautiful setting over the pools and looking over Phnang Na Bay as we ate breakfast or had an evening meal.
