Everything about this place is clean, sweet smelling, central to the nightlife of hat Lamai road, nice beach access when compared to most of the establishments on either side (to the southwest of beach they get a little less reputable, to the east there are patches of fratty/more 'economy' but nicer spots followed by much nicer resorts and beach dining) but I can only speak to my observations walking both directions on the beach. This place is affordable and clean and nice. Complaints are really only about the staff upon check in. The manager was quite rude when we arrived, probably because we came a few days after full moon party the island over when I'm sure they had tons of wild tourists and were 'over it.' There are a lot of rules and hidden charges if you dare to stain a towel or use excessive products provided in room. But if you are a considerate guest, this should not be a problem. The rest of the staff experiences were friendly. Included breakfast is what you would expect, a buffet with no frills but not bad. Regular food is subpar but ok for a snack by the beach. We hadn't tried dinner here but there are great restaurants in town and on the beach. (Check out Pavillion resort and Nakahru for dinner). As everywhere else in Thailand so far, mixed drinks are poorly made (I.e. Very light on booze---it's not really a drinking culture so I think it's lack of understanding). We spent 730 baht on a bottle of Sveda and then mixed ourselves discreetly on the beach. I'd come back!
