I was on a 4 week golf odyssey around Ratchaburi, Kanchanaburi, Kwai, Saraburi, Pak Chong, and Nakhon Ratchasima.
There are two golf courses - totalling 54 holes - in the area of Grand Prix Hotel. And I played all three while staying at the hotel.
The Grand Prix Golf Club is a stunning labour of love built by a very successful Thai businessman and benefactor, Doctor Prachin. The golf club house and the hotel both sit on a high escarpment and there are stunning views west towards Myanmar's hills, north to the Thai plains, and east to the far side of what is a large valley.
Although you will need a car or good transport to reach Grand Prix (and Blue Sapphire which is the other local course), it is well worth the effort. The Manageress of the hotel Khun Put was fantastic and extremely helpful and happy and made my stay extremely comfortable - even turning on the pools water spa each evening to help me ease my weary golfing bones when I had my swim.
If you are a golfer I would strongly recommend you make the effort to get out and play these three courses - and stay at Grand Prix Hotel while you are there. It really is a relaxing location far from the madding crowd.
