Mediocre at Best -

Upon arrival we were greeted by staff that spoke very limited English, even for Thailand. We booked the Orchid Villa and when shown our room, several of the lighting fixtures were not working and several handles had been ripped off of articles of furniture in the villa. Additionally, we were greeted with a welcome card with the incorrect name. When we notified the staff of these problems, they told me that "I knew what I was getting when I booked this villa." Then, one of the attendants with limited English came to our villa and took pictures of all the problems. Despite this, none of the problems with the unit was rectified during our stay. When I asked to speak with the manager, she was rude and reluctantly offered us a 30 minute foot massage. This hotel has nice views but it's tradeoff is that there is an extremely steep driveway leading to its location that taxi drivers refuse to go up. Therefore, unless you rent a car, you are forced to use Sandalwood's "preferred" car service that costs 400 baht (nearly US$14) per way. A similar trip in a normal taxi would cost less than 100 baht. Additionally, not all of the Villas offer views at all. The views in our villa were totally obstructed by a tree. Even without a view, I could still enjoy our outdoor patio that included a BEANBAG CHAIR!! Furthermore, since I booked one of the the cheaper villas on the property, I felt like I was being treated like a 2nd class citizen for the duration our our stay. This is despite the fact that our cheaper villa. This is all for a hotel with no beach. Overall, potential travelers should beware of the scam the owner is running. Take a close look at some of the entries and it's easy to tell that they are just too good to be true.
