Stylish and comfortable room, but poor room service
I stayed here before, about 20 years ago, and was pleased that the hotel is not 'dated'. My room felt classy and comfortable and had good views. Another stand out point is the hotel staff who are generally very attentive (although I was a little frustrated to have to wait about 10 minutes at check in, which could have been avoided if all 3 reception staff weren't attending to one group of 4 guests).
The buffet breakfast was very good and I had an excellent dinner at the Italian restaurant. But, my room service breakfast was dreadful. It was 25 minutes late and everything was cold....the toast, the eggs, bacon, and even the coffee was cold. I can only presume that the breakfast was cooked on time but then left waiting on its trolley, there was only member of room service staff at that time and he must have had too many deliveries to make at the same time. I complained about this when checking out but was still required to pay the breakfast service charge which I thought was inappropriate.
