I realised I’d made a mistake when a saw the fruit bowl a $15AUD Coronas and dead coral.
Although the resort is in a picturesque location, with mountain and ocean views, the tranquility left not long after we arrived. Being a 4.5 resort, I expected a little more than offered- especially after paying $550AUD per night for 9 nights for the private pool villa.
I’m sure at the time of the photos the resort looked lovely, but the harsh Thailand weather and 15 years of no maintenance has taken its toll. The room was large, but tiles were falling off the pool, the bamboo screening in the bathroom had begun to rot and the deck was a trip hazard. Don’t be fooled by the room extras. The fruit bowl was 2 old bananas, some lychees and a dead frangipanni. The high tea is a glass of cordial and some biscuits quickly made stale by the humidity. Although being in Thailand, we felt that the language barrier for a hotel that caters to a large % of westerners was poor, allowing a lower standard of service. A disappointing honeymoon. Going on another one!
Very very pricey food and drinks!
