perfect for a romantic, tranquil, secluded break

When I booked the trip as a surprise romantic getaway for my girlfriend who I hadn't seen for several months I must say I was concerned it didn't meet my hopes and expectations...I'm pleased to say it did. The setting was perfect for a tranquil, secluded break. Not too far from the beach (about a 20-30min walk from our upper villa) or from the centres of Patong & Karon. The welcome drink upon arrival was a lovely touch and the views from the terrace were stunning. The villa didn't disappoint either. While it wasn’t as sumptuous as some city / business hotels, it was none the less spacious, clean and very comfortable and the private villa and balcony view was just what I was looking for. One thing I would say is the water wasn’t the cleanest running and often came out with a brownish tinge. Slightly off-putting in the hot tub but it wasn’t constant and we got used to it plus they cleaned thoroughly daily.
The service was very good, polite, courteous and friendly and have to say I was most impressed on my birthday with the sound of two staff singing happy birthday to me and delivering a bottle of sparkling wine and a card. Most thoughtful and in my experience not many places would do that spontaneously.
Many folk have commented on the steep slopes and long walk to anywhere. We didn’t find a problem with this at all. Sure the paths are steep but it is a hillside resort after all and they do offer a shuttle bus service.
In terms of other facilities, the pools were clean and generally ok but wouldn’t say it’s their best asset. The Spa was excellent though, very relaxing and serene and again staff very courteous. We didn’t eat in the hotel on an evening but the buffet breakfasts were very good indeed and the cocktails on an evening fabulous…with a most spectacular view!
All in all a truly memorable break and certainly pleased I ended up booking there. I would certainly recommend it.
