Hotel not at all as expected
it is important to note that this is not a hotel, but effectively a guest house!
this residence is not "a short trip" from pattaya. it is 25-30 minutes in the hotel shuttle to the dolphin roundabout in n. pattaya where the shuttle deposits you. you then need to find another means of transport to central pattaya. there are three shuttles per day, at 10:00,14:00 and 18:00 (back 30 minutes later). however you have to register at the hotel for the shuttle. if no one registers then there is no shuttle, so you have no flexibility to change your return time at short notice. there is also the possibility for booking a late evening shuttle but this costs 300 baht (was not clarified if this is per person). taxis in pattaya also demand 300 baht to the serene sands and refuse to use the meter.
breakfast limited choice and badly organised but you could fill yourself.
evening "a la carte" ok. nothing much nearby.
the sport facilities are minimal, do not expect a useful gym. there was a
- rower (no monitor)
- running machine
- a few weights.
the swimming pool was extremely short.
no useful english language tv channels in the rooms (hbo, star, bbc, cnn etc), but lots of russian and thai channels. complaints on the subject were greeted with "oh we retuned for the russian guests earlier in the year" you can see bbc in the lounge - you can also borrow a dvd from our large library". later it turned out that there was a charge of 50baht per night and dvd (a dvd costs ca. 70baht on the street markets).
