Vastly overrated hotel

We stayed at ale Meridian for 3 nights. The room was shabby. The carpet was not clean and not vacuumed during our stay. The waste bin in the toilet was not emptied and I had to request shampoo and soap as they were not restocked when used. The corridors were noisy, at any hour of the day or night. The bed was creaking every time a movement was made, and the mattress was old. It even sagged in the middle. The lobby is anonymous, it resembles the foyer of an office block. The only saving grace was the breakfast. Probably the best we have experienced in any hotel. It was really excellent. But unfortunately on balance I cannot recommend this establishment. It’s not a 5* hotel , it is a run down 4*.
