The Sofa Gallery hotel is similar to a bed and breakfast. Khun Viset has renovated an old house along the Mekong to accommodate guests. The hotel is on the outskirts of town on the bank of the Mekong River towards the Friendship Bridge to Laos. It is nice to be away from the seediness of the tourist part of town, Thaa Sadej, where there are numerous guesthouses but feels unsafe. The Sofa Gallery is in a safe, quiet location. Transportation is required to go into town, which can be called to pick up guests from the hotel. The hotel serves a local style breakfast with several items to choose from or one can sample all. There is no kitchen but a few dishes are available and there are a list of items the hotel staff will order for nearby restaurants. Free wifi but no television. The hotel is new, so still needs to work out some kinks.
