Cheap and cheerful. Nothing amazing but descent enough. Staff were helpful, place was good for the cheap price, and in centre of town. They helped us rent a moped, and have free coffee, tea, hot choco... อ่านต่อ

We arrived to check in and were told (ever so apologetically) that the person in our room had decided to stay and not told them. So we couldn’t check in. They kindly offered and arranged another room at no charge down the road in another hotel, unfortunately, when we went there, it really wasn’t great, so we decided to refuse the room and went in search of another room on foot, with our backpacks. We also asked Agoda to cancel the first night’s booking, which they did quickly and efficiently. We ended up staying at Chaing Rai Hotel, which was fine, but nearly double the price. Next day we successfully managed to check into our room at The Orchard. The staff were always sweet and helpful, but the rooms were looking fairly neglected. Both the room and the bathroom could do with a good lick of paint. The bed whilst a double was smaller than what we’d had in almost every other hotel we’ve been in, but it was still sufficient. The bed itself wasn’t great - it’s a pocket sprung mattress which has seen better days - I could feel the springs under me and it did affect my sleep. As all the rooms point into a central courtyard we were also woken up by other guests checking in at an incredibly early time in the morning. The bathroom was fine and functional but nothing to get excited about. If you can’t find anywhere else to stay, you’ll be fine here, but I don’t think I can hand on heard recommend it. Spend a bit more money and you’ll be fine - the choice of decent sleeps in Chiang Rai is a bit harder to find.
