Simple standard in an OK and quiet place

Lanta New Beach was an OK place to stay in. Having read all the negative reviews before I booked it I didn't have very high expectations. I wouldn't wanna say that it's THAT bad that some poeple described it, but I guess it depends on what you expect.

First of all it is located below Long Beach in a very rocky location so the beach was very narrow and it was almost impossible getting in to the water when it was low-tide, however when it was high-tide you could easily go down for a dip. Pools were quite small but enough to cool you down and swim a little bit between sunbathing.

The reception staff were not rude but not very service-minded either, facebooking, not looking up to help you straight away. The whole family lived in the reception and I got the bungalow opposite it so it was very loud 24/7, kids screaming, watching tv. Maybe this didn't affect the guests in the bungalows further away from the reception.

The restaurant staff on the other hand were very friendly and happy, making conversation. The food selection was good, different set breakfasts or a la carte. Big variety of thai and western food which tasted great.

The bedroom was OK, big and airy, a bit dark but clean when I got there. The bed was a bit hard but ok. The bathroom didn't look super fresh, the sink had a big crack, toilet leaked when flushing but still clean, good shower pressure and heater worked fine.

Unfortunately they only cleaned the room once in the 8 days I stayed there. I think you had to tell the reception if you wanted it to get cleaned, but no one informed me about that, I saw the cleaning lady cleaning the other bungalows, so maybe because I had the cheapest room type this is how it worked.

Overall I can recommend this hotel if you don't want to spend all your money on accommodation, and you're not depending on your accommodation for a good holiday. It is nothing fancy but enough if you just want a decent place to sleep in.
